Anthropology and
Archeology
Anthropology involves the study of all humans from all places and all
times. As an area of study, it provides an opportunity to delve deeply
into the vast spectrum of human cultural practices and explore the cultural
commonalities that link all human populations. We offer majors in anthropology
and archeology. Our archeology program includes studies in Indiana,
Alaska, and Cyprus with field and travel opportunities available every
year. Our facilities include the Archeology
and Forensics Laboratory which provides ongoing research opportunities.
In addition, we work closely with the Department
of Biology in order to facilitate students interests in human
biology, biological variation, and evolution. Today the value of an
undergraduate major in anthropology or archeology is ever increasing
as cultures of the world come into greater contact and as our study
of human history brings to life the achievements of all peoples.
Career options for anthropologists are varied and rewarding, all reflecting
the adaptability that comes with studying and learning from other peoples
and cultures. A few of the employment possibilities are:
- linguistics
- human biology
- corporate consulting
- archeology
- social work
- medical anthropology
- organizational behavior
- education
- museum studies
- art
- ethnology
- marketing
